How it all began...
My name is Stefano Castro, and I grew up in a small town in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I learned early on that small businesses can create big change. When I moved to Hawai‘i, I recognized that same spirit in local makers, people pouring their hearts and heritage into everything they create.
At 17, while at Mililani High School, I started Paradise in a Box with no money, little experience, and a dream to bring people together while shining a spotlight on Hawai‘i’s small businesses. During the pandemic, I packed boxes by hand in my living room, giving them away to spread joy and share the local brands I believed in. What started as a small idea has grown into a business partnering with over 30 local makers.
Each box is more than a gift; it’s a piece of Hawai‘i, a connection to culture, and a way to support the people and traditions that make this place special.

Paradise in a Box exists to celebrate Hawai‘i’s people, culture, and traditions through thoughtful gifting. We partner with local makers and mission-driven groups to create meaningful impact with every box. Each purchase helps sustain small businesses and keep the spirit of aloha thriving.
Every box we send tells a story of the artisans, the recipes, and the traditions behind each product. Through vendor cards, videos, and immersive content, we bring customers closer to the heart of Hawai‘i. It’s more than a gift, it’s a cultural connection.

Our journey began as a school project and grew into a purpose-driven venture. From humble beginnings to college years of growth, to showcasing at Hawai‘i’s biggest stages, and now stepping onto the global scene — this timeline captures the milestones that shaped who we are today.
2022
The Spark
At 17, while a senior at Mililani High School, I came up with the idea for Paradise in a Box during an entrepreneurship class. Working at a grocery store surrounded by local snacks inspired me to share Hawai‘i’s products with the world.
2023
Official Launch
Paradise in a Box was officially formed as an LLC, turning the dream into a real business. We became a top seller on the Etsy marketplace, reaching customers beyond Hawai‘i for the first time.
2024
Major Launch & Motivation
We launched Paradise in a Box at the Made in Hawai‘i Festival, showcasing our products to thousands of attendees. The experience gave us the momentum and motivation to grow the business even further.
2024 - 2025
Nationwide Reach
In 2025, Paradise in a Box expanded to deliver to every state in the United States. What started as a Hawai‘i story is now sharing aloha coast-to-coast.
2025
Global Expansion & Innovation
We launched Fulfilled by Paradise and the ʻOhana Collective, supporting local brands and uniting vendors. Our new website enhanced partner connections, and Paradise in a Box went global, showcasing Hawai‘i at the Tokyo Gift Show.
